Prayers for my dad...
Prayers for my dad...
I was wrong on the surgery date, and it was today.
Mom, Dad, and my brother had to be at the hospital at 5 this morning.
They didn't know what time surgery was scheduled, so I've been trying to relax, and I knew my brother would call if something was wrong, or the surgery was over.
I finally gave in and called, and Dad is in surgery now. They won't be done till 11:30 or 12 as he went in at 9:30.
He'll be in ICU for a day, and then the doctor will reassess.
If you can spare a prayer or two, I'd appreciate it.

Finally! My brother just called and Dad is out of surgery and in recovery. The surgery took longer than expected because the surgeon found a couple of other things like substantial plaque buildup in the area, and took care of that during surgery.
My brother and Mom will be able to see Dad in ICU later this afternoon. I have an appointment with my psychiatrist this afternoon (40 mile drive), so my brother will call me this evening with an update.
Hopefully he will be able to go home in 2-3 days after he gets out of ICU. The hard part will be getting him to recuperate per doctor's orders as he has zero patience, is a workaholic, and is always on the go.
I'm praying his recovery goes smoothly! Thanks to all of you for the prayers!

I'm so glad to hear that the surgery went well, if a bit longer than expected.
He sounds a lot like my dad, who refuses to take it easy unless he literally cannot move because he is so ill. My continued prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. Wishing your dad patience to recoup.

Thank your for the reminder. I had no idea how tired, I mean really really tired I was until I got back from my appointment at almost 6 tonight.
Between my TMJ, degenerative disc disease, and sciatica, my pain level is through the roof.
I've eaten supper, and I'm just going to relax this evening.

Good grief! Mom just called and the surgeon told Dad he was doing so well, he can go home tomorrow. Mom is having a fit. It's going to be hard enough as it is to keep him from doing things he shouldn't while recuperating. Ugh.
Okay. Deep breath. Not my problem, right?

Glad to hear your dad is doing well, I'm sure if he wasn't well enough they wouldn't disscharge him.
My granny who's 82 has broken her rib bone few months ago, she was in so much pain and we all thought she's having a heart attack, we rushed her to the hospital, and it was as I said a broken rib and she was strongly advised to stay in bed for a month, and not to move her right arm at all.
But the problem is my granny is a busy bee, she never stops, always doing one thing or the other, so she did stay in the bed, but only for one day. And she's been back to her normal routine ever since. Her rib is healing well inspite of it. I was nagging her that she should take it easy and do what doc said, but she's not doing it. I guess being busy is the only "operating mode" she knows, and taking a break for her at this age would mean like giving up on herself and it would be impossible for her to bounce back to normal after that break.
I'm not saying it's a right thing to do, but I'm saying we all know ourselves better than anyone else and we all know how much we can ask of ourselves. My granny has always been like this and she's doing ever so well for her age. She's still full of energy and lives most fullfilling life, I believe this is mostly due to the fact she always refused to take the break.
Maybe your dad is the same.
I just wanted to share this so it just maybe puts your mind at rest a bit.
I wish both you and your dad well.
Hugs
