Break Through

As a newly diagnosed codie I feel like Ive made a break through.

The man I have recently been seeing (for the last 2 mths) used to be addicted to drugs (amphetamines) and still takes other forms of drugs and alcohol. He also suffers from depression and stress. He is at a point where he has no money, has to move house, hates his job and doesnt have many friends (as most of them were in his drug using days and he has burnt alot of bridges). He does have some family support.

Normally I would go to his aid, give him money, offer him a place to stay and generally take care of everything for him.

Not this time.

Ive decided to back off, cease all contact, and let him sort himself out. I have been there previously as a ear to listen and support him, but even that has been hard to do.

So, I feel like finally I have made a break through, and I dont feel guilty one little bit!

Good for you Jess01! Doesn't it feel GREAT when you finally SEE what you have been doing and can finally REFRAIN from repeating the same behavior? I am so happy for you! Keep up the good work.
