Feelings
In reading from the book, Courage to Change, for today, June 22nd. (This really hit home for me.) It talks about how we often blame others for how we feel. "I'm a nervous wreck because of him", " She makes me so mad." When we blame others for our feelings, we are giving them power... that belongs to us! "Nobody can make me feel anything without my consent." With this comes changing my attitude and learning to communicate more responsibly. Instead of blaming, I can begin to learn how to talk about my feelings, which is something that is hard for me to do! This reading for today makes me realize that I can apply Al-Anon principles to every aspect of my life. Today's reading especially puts in perspective some of the issues that I have been having difficulty with at my job.
It's pretty cool when we realize that Alanon priniciples really do work outside of the meetings!
Early in my recovery I kept my life in compartments-recovery, work, home/family, etc.
Needless to say, that really didn't work well for me in the long run!
I'm glad you've found solutions for your job issues! :ghug3
