its incredible
Even though I still love my husband and pray for his recovery and I have a few bad days here and there, life can be incredible. The most incredible part is getting to know myself..I was trying to change so many things about myself to make myself better but when I woke up this morning I said "you look fine just as you are and even if you never shape up and have the perfect figure or finish school, you will still be someone special". I love this revelation from myself to myself. Self love is a process for me but it was such a nice thought this morning. I can love me just as I am. Its incredible.

I kept a post-it on my mirror that said:
"I Love You ______(insert your name here)
And I accept you exactly as you are."
That self-love affirmation was taken from Louise Haye's book "You Can Heal Your Life"
Give yourself a hug! You had a great day with yourself! ((Lulu))

That is a wonderful self realization. Just a couple weeks ago, I was talking to a friend, who is not in Al Anon and doesn't know the struggles with alcoholism. I told my friend that I started attending Al Anon and that I didn't know what was wrong with me. My friend put in perspective for me that I am a caring person and I am not a quitter. That I am a strong person. With my friend saying that, it meant a lot. I know that I can take those characteristics to extreme, but it's learning to keep them in balance. Even though I am married to an alcoholic and have codependent traits, they can be used/ viewed in a positive aspect, too... at times anyways
