The Missing Piece Meets Big "O" 1 Attachment(s) I stumbled upon this today. Shel Silverstein was brilliant. He's on my list of people I'd raise from the dead to have dinner with. This story is appropriate in this forum. "The missing Piece" sees himself as just that. A piece - Not whole. Until the end that is..... That was cool! I wanna roll! LOL Ali, I think this is one of my favorite avatars! the colors and the determined look on her face. Love it. |
Mine too! |
What's funny Is that prior to recovery, the meaning of this would have totally went over my head. |
It's so funny that you posted this. Not more than two weeks ago, I found my old copy of The Missing Piece and read it to my 5-year-old for the first time. I was blown away by how it really seemed to be an allegory for codependency. Shel Silverstein rocks! |
Awesome! I've never seen this before. Thanks! |
This was so super great!!! Thanks so much. I will use this as a recovery tool!! |

Oh I love it. Thanks! |
That was my favorite book when I was little. Thanks for helping me see it in a whole new way! |
So so great. I love that the piece finds the *perfect* match... until it grows. I love that a Big O shows it can be done. I love that it feels hard to roll at first. I love that that the edges wear off. It makes sense that a wedge would see other wedges and O's with wedge-shaped holes and never even *think* it could be anything else. But it can! :) |
I know.... I'm gonna have Codie behavior all weekend - I'll obsess over Shel Silverstein! :-D - Dead guys are alright, right? |
^ Tsk! Tsk!! |
