New here.

Hi. I've lurked a bit trying to get the courage to post. I've been with my husband for 13 years, and we've been married for 5. He is an alcoholic. He had been sober for 4 years when he relapsed last year. After 2 suicide attempts and and days of sheer hell he quit drinking again. He has now been sober for a year. That is the short version of my story. lol

My dad was a functioning alcoholic so I will probably post some about that later.

I hope to talk more about what life has been like loving 2 alcoholics. Right now I am still a little shy and still working up courage.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I have had some therapy, but haven't done anything like alanon. One thing that my therapist recommended that has helped alot has been keeping a journal. That and I have a best friend who should have been a therapist, she is great.

I was painfully shy a good portion of my life. :)

The further I get along in my recovery, the harder it is to get me to shut up! :lmao

Neither of my parents are alcoholic, but my dad is an ACOA (lost both his alcoholic parents within a year of each other while he was in high school), I have a 32 year old daughter who's alcoholic/addict, I was married to an alcoholic/addict, and I am a recovering alcoholic/addict as well as codependent.

I hope you continue to post, and know that you are among friends. :ghug3
