So, I'm still on very good terms with XAH's mother. She and I could be very close friends if she only lived closer (she's in Las Vegas!). We talk on the phone regularly; I send her pics and videos of DD; she tells me about her life, which isn't easy these days. I really like her, and we seem both united by the fact that we've both been hurt by her son, though she more than I.

Yesterday I receive a package from her for DD with a cute outfit and an Easter card. For me, she sent a book called "The Sociopath Next Door: who's the sociopath in your life?". On the front cover there's a little blurb about how 4 in 25 Americans has absolutely no remorse for anything they do and how they masquerade as normal people...

I was just floored. Ok, and I laughed too.

I mean, this is her son she's referring to and she does so completely without shame. Guess she knows him better than me! Talk about validating my doubts about whether or not XAH was nuts.

Validation feels good no matter what form it takes. DD is your x-MIL's granddaughter, so it's terrific that you and she understand each other. That's rare and wonderful!
