A business partner on a rampage again

He escalated right in front of my eyes, through texts. Escalated from "can I ask what's going on with this paper?" to "I am moving forward with or without you" AFTER I told him what was going on and when I could talk to him.

He's a nutjob. I am sick to death of dealing with lunatic alcoholics.

he has created this chaos, created the drama out of nothing so he can run to others in the movement and maintain his victim status.

I am sick to death of this crap. I want to cut him loose, but I know he will go to all our advertisers, who love him, and talk **** about us and we'll be screwed.

Help!

It always helps me to know that I'm not going through anything alone, there's someone else out there in a similar situation.......

I've got a nutjob boss/partner too. He's an internet porn addict/alcoholic and money is his Higher Power (but who's taking his inventory, eh?) So me and 4 other employees ride this crazy little rollercoaster every day, not knowing what his mood will be from one minute to the next, or whether he'll bankrupt the business by the end of each day. The insecurity, the not knowing, is driving us insane.

Years ago this was a profitable business, we had good benefits and bonuses, job security, he was a great guy. There were all sorts of promises made about how we were going to get rich and retire. Then, as his addictions progressed, the wants became more important than the needs, he was spending as fast as we earned, there never was a prudent reserve or any investments. We've had our hours and our pay cut, lost our benefits, last month our boss bought himself a new airplane. It just doesn't seem fair

This is why I have a program of recovery, a loyalty to my church, and a strong and growing faith in God. It brings me comfort to know that God's will for me is to continue to do the next right thing, to have faith, to endure the difficult times, and to understand that it's His plan, not mine. I'm still here for a reason, I just don't know what it is yet, and until I stop collecting a paycheck I need to be still and listen closely for my next set of instructions.

I wish you the best, and hope our situations improve.

I just want to say that I had an experience today at work that shocked me. One of my staff (who has been thoroughly trained in the dangers of computer viruses) passed on a virus to another staff member. This person knew better, and should have never even considered doing what she did. The reasons behind her actions were purely people-pleasing. She thought she was doing a favor to the person she forwarded the email to, even though it was clearly against policy to do so.

It's proven to me that being liked carries a lot more weight with most people than doing the right thing. I plan to deal with the breach of policy in a way that acknowledges how to sort out the desire to be popular with the reasons why we have policies that are sometimes unpopular.

I don't know if this helps at all, but it seems relevant in some way. I can't change the overall culture of people-pleasing. But, I can reiterate the reasons why we have to do things that won't win us any popularity contests.

Transie, I suggest you treat him as I would an off his nut AH, and keep all the crap texts and mail he has sent you as proof of his insane behavior. You may need to fight fire with fire as far as his being "loved" by your advertisers goes, so keep every little thing.

Can you let him know, that if he starts spreading lies to your advertisers you will not hesitate to take legal action against him?

Sorry you have been lumbered with this egotistical dimwit, but think of the knowledge of how to survive this, you get to show now, learned from your experiences of the past nutcase A's.

God bless

Transform,

This book might help you understand the dynamics in the workplace: Amazon.com: The Addictive Organization: Why We Overwork, Cover Up, Pick Up the Pieces, Please the Boss, and Perpetuate S (9780062548740): Anne Wilson Schaef: Books

Anne Wilson Schaef just rocks and all her books have helped me so much! Give it a read and see what you think.

Love,

Lenina

Thank you. He's vaccilated from telling us he's essentially taking over the paper, to backpedaling and offering the paper to us but taking the other project, and now that we've shown him kindness he's raging at us again about not being committed and how he's got so much wrapped up in the paper that he can't watch it go down in flames. Because that's what we're doing you see. Screwing everything up.

I am stepping out and letting my HP take care of this idiot. I heard God loves them.
