Gratitude

I'm thankful for:
  • my 4 cats - who are worth every penny in vets bills.
  • my job - that pays me enough for my independence.
  • my home - my sanctuary of peace and serenity (when the 4 cats are all sleeping).
  • my mum - who is almost always there for me.
  • this forum - it has 'saved' me.
  • my friends - I'm slowly working out what it is to BE a friend.
  • my freedom - I now make my own decisions, good and bad, and am responsible for me (oh, and the cats...).
Life is good. Far from perfect but I can easily find the good today.

What is going right for you today?

Thanks for posting this, I can second all the line items listed here, especially the gift of having a job (in Michigan) and coffee..

I"m deeply grateful for:

-my children and my increased ability to be a better parent compaired to when I was deeper in my addiction to AH.
-my children and their specific gifts and personalities
-the critters that live with me (only one big orange cat but he's as big as both chihuahuas and they all love each other very much)
-my sisters and family and friends for loving me, especially when I don't know how to love myself
-my ability to write for a living and the opportunities that are presenting themselves
-my HP and faith
-SR for opening my eyes to alcoholism in a way I hadn't understood previously and introducing me to wonderfully wise folks
-my HP for putting me in the perfect place at the perfect time last night to be on the ground level of creating a new state-wide organization
-the dawning of a brand new day!

I"m sure this list will expand once the coffee is in my belly and not the cup.

what is going right for me so far today:

i feel good that i am leaving abf to go have breakfast with my mom
(sometimes difficult to go do other things, when he is here i just wanna stick around him!)

i feel good that i have rehearsal this afternoon for a musical i am participating in

grateful for my mother who a year ago told me if i took piano lessons, she'd pay for them. i love the times over the weekend where i can have plenty of time to practice, and see my improvement

very grateful that, today, i don't feel "stuck" as i have been for some months now

This is a tough one today for me so the best I can come up with is:

my kids are doing ok on their own and they love me well
I can still manage my home for now
I am employed and it pays the bills
no real life crises/drama at the moment

No real life crises at the moment is a great one, Kassie2!

I am profoundly thankful for my health, my job, my independence, and the devotion of my pets, my family, and my friends.

I am also thankful that SR is here with threads like this one that make me stop, think, and listen to my HP.

Thank you for posting!!

It is 6.30am here in my Heavenly part of Aussie, so the "stuff up fairy" hasn't got here yet.

Anyway
I am thankful for:
Having had a good night's sleep.
Just waking up.
Having the secure and affordable home I have.
Having my dear 98 year old mother still alive and healthy.
Being at peace with myself and my God.
Cyclone Olga moving away and not causing too much damage up here.
My RABF still being sober and no alkie problems in my life.
SR and the darlings here.

God bless

So happy that after 16 yrs. I am still madly in love with my husband.

I am grateful that I agreed to sponsor two ladies...I get as much as I give.

I am grateful that I am willing to keep trying to keep my focus on me. (I still have
some room for improvement here.)

I am grateful for (in no particular order)
  • My daughter
  • my family
  • having a job (as much as I get frustrated with it, at least I have one!)
  • Living within my means
  • My best friend
  • Finding local groups to be a part of where I can enjoy my music with people who love music too!
  • Choir practise tonight
  • Being part of a community orchestra
  • My pets (a cat and a dog who I love dearly)
  • my health
  • knowing if I need you, you will be here
  • being able to give of myself and my experience
  • being able to learn new things every day
  • finally leaving my depression behind me
  • having clarity
  • my faith
  • love and support
  • my home
  • the future
  • my past
  • my experiences
  • exabf - As much pain as you caused me, you drove me toward spiritual growth and healing - so thanks

Disclaimer - this is not an exhaustive list of my gratitude, just what I could think of at the time, I leave this open to addition at any point in the future, and if I learn to time travel, the past!

Thanks Bookwyrm

Today I am grateful to God (my Higher Power) for:

1. My newfound ability to discern things I was never able to discern before.
2. My family.
3. All of my strengths and abilities.
4. Each new day I am allowed to practice at this thing called life.
5. My job, a roof over my head, and clothes to cover me.
6. Running water, soap and toothpaste.
7. Heat and hot water.
8. My peace and serenity.

today I am thankful for:
  • My beautiful baby girl who just signed the words "Mama eat" this morning
  • My Super Duper loving and supportive parents, there with me every step of the way
  • Clearing yet another false collections claim on my credit report
  • Having money saved up for a rainy day
  • Having the opportunity to finally take care of myself
  • Renewing a friendship with a long lost friend and reading his hilarious emails daily
  • Tango dancing for 3 hours every Sunday
  • Having a (boring) job in this crappy economy
  • My spiffy new cell phone which lets me assign a dog bark ring to XAH's number
  • Not having to deal with screaming, broken glass, empty beer cans, and rants about the human race every day.

Grateful today for this crazy adventure that is my life -- the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Grateful that the ravens, raccoons, and squirrels are running around ON the house and not IN the house.
Grateful for this beautiful perfect steaming creamy cup of coffee.
Grateful for the peace and quiet and endless possibility, light years away from the chaos of a drunk.

(grateful for noday for starting this thread)
