I guess I've come to use anacronyms for my ex-boyfriend on this forum out of convenience. It almost seems too insulting to use one for someone who has passed away. That's not a slight to your question at all Insulated, please know that. It's only my initial reaction when I thought about it.

If it makes it easier to write about your fiance, then I would think DAF would be sufficient. Just like any short hand, it'll get picked up in time by those reading.
