first al-anon meeting last night
first al-anon meeting last night
For those of you who do not know: I quit drinking 12/08 and I moved away from my alcoholic husband 8/08. My life in recovery just gets better and better. I have been attending AA since october, and find it quite helpful. A friend of mine needs support, she was married to an abusive alcoholic for 23 years. They are divorced now, but she and her children have healing to do. So she asked me to accompany her to her first al-anon meeting last night, it was my first one as well.
What a fabulous, moving and powerful experience! I encourage anyone who has not tried a meeting or three to check it out.
There is an entire world of help out there available to we who want to recover and live healthy lives. We don't have to suffer in our pain, turmoil, shame and despair. We are not permanently damage goods, we are beautiful, loved and important to the universe, and we deserve the life that is waiting.
