Against my better judgment I went with my AH to the doctor as he is having blurred vision in 1 eye and pain, gained over 22 lbs rapidly, short of breath, hypertension. It took 2 hours and they have referred him to a specialist for his eye ..put him immediately on blood pressure meds... told him not to drink alcohol and "why would you want to until we know what is wrong with you". Well- I asked if he took his first pill- which I guess I should not have. What do you think the response was? No--I am going to wait till after the holiday so I can drink. WTH? Why would I expect anything different. What was I thinking ... a responsible person would say wow - I am afraid~ my Bp was 500/250 (not really but high) I better pay attention and get my shi* straight. How utterly ridiculous of me. It sent me so over the top I called a teenager a bitc* at the Wal-Mart who questioned if I had 22 items in a 20 item line. God give me strength!

So HE is a grown man who is jeopardizing HIS health by living in denial and drinking, and you are yelling at innocent strangers because of it? Why?

Yep- Yelling at smart alec teenagers who were being really pissy but Still- I let it all get to me - should have risen above it. Yelled at the kids when I got home too and then cut my hand on something. Karma is a B!

Dear Red...Oh Man!
Don't feel too guilty...I can tell you I've been there with a similar situation...and it totally short-circuited my senses as well. The one thing you should walk away from this with is that any mistreatment aimed at you is obviously not at all personal since he aims this worse kind of treatment toward himself. Alcoholics are not reasonable or sensible most of the time in my experience. I have no other consolation to offer but try to stay calm and remember the 3C's. I know, it makes no sense whatsoever.
