Hi - I am really needing some help here. I live with abf. 6 years. He is now completely non-functioning and wants to die. He drinks at least 1/2 gallon of vodka a day.. He refuses to go leave, and he refuses to go to rehab... he is now what i would call a hermit, he has terrible anxiety and he's paranoid. is there a phone number or somethink i can do? I live in the chicago area.. he is a vet and has went to a counselor at the va...

I am new with dealing with this (properly), but just thinking that maybe you could call the police if he's a danger to himself.

I recently had a relationship with a marine vet with combat ptsd. You didn't mention that yours has it, but by what you describe it sounds like he does.

There are inpatient programs that are offered through the VA. You should contact them. But he still needs to be the one who wants the help.

I'm sorry to say that if he is not in active therapy there isn't much you can do except for taking care of yourself.

you could call the AA hotline for Chicago and ask them to 12 step him.
