New member, old story

I don't really feel up to a long explanation this evening, but wanted to say after weeks of reading the forums I finally registered!

I'm a 47 year old wife of an alcoholic. Married 28 years..3 grown sons. (Youngest still lives at home).

I never realized life could be so complicated, and choices so hard.

Thanks so much for the welcome!

It's so complicated, almost no one here knows my husband drinks. I of course am so embarrassed by it i don't tell a sole. He was a casual drinker for years...gradually got worse. Now it's been out of control...for past few years.

Most of the time I can handle it, but weekends are one long drunken binge, and lately i'm just at a loss. I guess I need help with my coping skills...

So appreciate the kind friendship....and sober non-critical conversations!

Adragonfly so glad you are here.....You have come to the right place....Welcome!....I have been hanging around years.....and I have learnt so so much from reading all the information here at SR. My husband is an alcoholic and I have three beautiful children age 8, 5 and 3 and they deserve better...I do to.....and I am slowly taking steps in the right direction. I love my husband very much but the chaos that his alcoholism brings to our family unit is unlivable with and very dysfunctional. I am taking one day at a time.......

Isn't it so nice to know you are not alone?.....The Sr "family" really do understand....we are not alone here! Alcoholism/Addiction is so so complicated!! INFACT IT TOTALLY SUCKS!....for the whole family......we are glad you found us.

I find the compassion, honesty advice and information here is fantastic! I look forward to reading more about you......Phiz

I can relate to the big secret and the binge-filled weekends...and the ridiculous arguments.

Welcome to the board. You will find so much knowledge and compassion here - and real voices of experience....it's awesome (and free!!) SR really helps me keep my sanity. I thought I was losing it there for a while...and ah was all to willing to help with that.
