No, I have not been to a meeting there. Attended just a couple of Alanon meetings here though, and was told that some local groups do cut new members off from their friends - drinkers or not. Fact is, I don't drink. I hear you - that people make things up. However, it was her friend that is in AA that first told me that it is best for my friend to only socialize with other AA members and "safe people". When I asked what a "safe person" is, her response was "someone that is active in AA - other recovering alcoholics or addicts that have been through or are in the program." That was pretty clear. And, my friend pretty much parrotted that to me. So, unless I want to start drinking and go to AA meetings, I am not a safe person. I do hear from my friend on occassion - via e-mail or once in a while via phone. But, she has been told not to have any conversation about AA or her recovery. It is all very... hush-hush and secretive.
Frankly, the folks at Alanon didn't think this was right. And, I have yet to find anything here or elsewhere online that backs it up either.
Bottom line is, there is no point in my struggling with it. I can't do a think about it. I just hope this group doesn't drive her back to drinking. She has been sober for 1 1/2 years. Only thing I can do is... move on with life, and wish her health, growth and continued sobriety.
Thank you for your comments.

I know that recovery is different for some people. I know some people may be more fragile. But for me, that sort of thing comes down to personal responsibility. Your friend, after 1.5 years sober, should be able to tell the difference between relationships that have been healthy, and those that may be toxic. And if she can't, maybe she was asking for the guidance that was given?
I'm totally lost as to how this pertains to hot tubs, and my friend alice, and her lovely escape, so to bring it back, Hi Alice, hows the tub?!!?!?

Right now, I am thinking of heading up to my daughter's and having a dip in her pool. It is 29 here today, has been like this for ages and it is supposed to be SPRING!!!
To lay back, and look over the valley below, hear the birds and feel the peace up there, is just so soul restful.
To heck with the thinking, I just talked myself into it.
God bless

That's the way Jad! Enough talk more walk, right?
Thanks for the inquiry GL! I actually haven't taken that dip in the hot tub yet if you can believe it. I have been scrounging through my bags and cannot find my swimsuit of all things. I thought for sure I wouldn't have tossed it, but it is pretty old. I guess I will just have to order a new one. I've been catching up on work that I missed while moving again. I hope to get in there soon, though!
Things are cozy and quiet. Almost completely unpacked. It's more a matter of where to put things that's taken me a while. I've realized I have little to no decor items in here. I need some pictures and other "me" stuff. I'll have to take some time this weekend and crawl through my storage unit for some homey touches.

I just did that, went to the (ex)'s and brought back a couple of my treasures. My marital home was always packed with stuff, this house is small and white and I like the un-clutter, so I have hung 2 pictures, have 2 more on the desk, and some plants and candles.
Hi Alice,
Glad to hear you're almost unpacked and settling in well. Unpacking is taking me forever - why do I have so much junk? So I've started to clear out as I go - keep it simple sister really works for me!
