2 older brothers and one older sister. I am the baby. None of them are addicts or married addicts. None of them are codies either.

Mich, yes I have heard that if there are many years between the younger one does have more of the "1st child" traits. I have a 20 year old and an 18 year old, an 8 year old and 5 year old. The 8 year old does have a lot of "first-child" traits... responsible, always wanting to do the right thing, etc.

I've voted (youngest) however my older siblings are 10 & 8 years older than me & btw are codies as well... we've always picked partners that need rescuing... I'm not sure what in my families dynamics caused it. My parents were married for 48 years (til my dad passed), neither smoked, drank etc... very normal (if there is such a thing!)

I have an older brother by 6 years and an older sister by 5 years. I am the youngest and have always been the "rescuer" for boyfriends, friends, and strangers. Oh, plus naive as hell. Not anymore though!

I find it interesting that the youngest has the highest percentage. What is the psychological philosophy for that? Curious.

Oldest and the "rescuer" of the family and friends. I'm always learning over and over to let people 'fix' themselves... that sometimes the best help is not to help....

I am the third oldest of seven children. I have one older brother, one older sister, and four younger brothers. My parents deemed me to be the most responsible of their "older children," so I was the eternal babysitter. My older brother and sister were free to go out and play after school. I had to pick up my youngest brother at the babysitter's house, watch my 4 younger siblings, cook dinner for the family (mom worked the evening shift as a nurse), and clean the house.

And I always without fail put the needs of my younger siblings above mine. An interesting poll.....

I'm the youngest of 3 - sister 6 years older, brother 4 years older. THEY are both "healthy, normal people." (Do those really exist???)

Only child here.

As for your question, btch: "Healthy"? Certainly. I've met a few. I've even been accused of being one from time to time!

"Normal"? That's just a setting on a dishwasher.

BTW, love that avatar!!!

I am technically a middle child... older brother and younger sister. But, I and my brother were both adopted.. me first at 6 days old and then him when I was about 2 (he was almost 5). I can remember when I was younger having a hard time figuring out why I wasn't the oldest since I was there first. Then my brother moved away when I was 12 and I had hardly any contact with him until a few years ago so I guess I've felt like the oldest for a while.

No wonder I'm all screwed up... lol.

I am the oldest of four kids. Have a sister four years younger..another sister 12 years younger and a brother..who was 16 years younger then me. He has passed away of cancer..five years ago.

There is history of addictions. My Granny...was a pill popper(she took 30 to 50 pills a day). Grandfather on my moms side was in a mental hospital for years. Uncle was a alcoholic.

I'm an only child. There is no history of addiction in the family and I have never been involved with any kind of addict before.

Here it is, 15 months later and I don't think that I ever voted!!!!!!!!

I am the oldest of 2 girls by 4 years. I was always the "responsible" one. I find that as I get older I am becoming less and less responsible and boy, does it feel good!
No alcoholics in my family growing up.

Lost Child - second brother
