OMG, I almost cried this morning!!!
I've now put in my 40 hours for my practicum in the health information department at the local hospital. This morning the director of health information told me I was hired!!!!!!!!!
I got the works for a new employee, labs done, EKG, drug screen, chest xray, physical, PT evaluation, and TB test.
It's part-time and she wanted to start me at a higher rate of pay, but because I'm considered clerical right now till I graduate and take my national test for registration as a health information technician, it's not the best pay, but it beats a poke in the eye!
At least I have my foot in the door. We have a gal in the department due with baby #3 in September, and I have a feeling I'll get extra hours during her maternity leave.
This is really going to be a challenge with 6 classes in the fall (the 7th class was the practicum), but I know I can do it!

do WE have to do SIX classes? could WE tell our advisor that WE got a DAMN JOB and see if we can ease up on the work load a bit? or should WE just mind our business???

It will be the same load spring semester too, but bear in mind most are only 1 and 2 credit hour classes.

I'm glad I inspire someone! I was thinking this morning as I was wheeling down the hallway back to health information what a hoot that a currently gimpy old gal like me was good enough to hire, wheelchair, cam boot, crutches and all!
