TC and company update
The kiddo and I have successfully relocated to my parents' house. We have a nice little setup: 2 bedrooms connected by a Jack-and-Jill bath, but most of our time is spent visiting/playing in the living room or helping out with dinner preparations in the kitchen. My brother and STB sister-in-law are around quite a bit, and they make for excellent company. There's always someone here with whom to talk or laugh.
DS began his new preschool without incident - he speaks fondly of his teachers and is THRILLED with the new playground.
I am working really hard during my first month of pharmacy rotations (which is why I am posting so little!). Right now I am responsible for operating the anticoagulation clinic for a government health service, and I love the work. The people in this area of the country are very kind and appreciative, and my co-workers are super supportive. It almost makes dealing with blood all day OK!
The nice man that I began seeing about three months ago continues to be kind and attentive. I always look forward to seeing him, and our relationship is progressing in a lovely, thoughtful way. He is patient and mature in a way that is unfamiliar and very refreshing. There hasn't been the faintest trace of drama so far. Nice.
My XAH now lives 2 and 1/2 hours from DS and I. He made a big, worried production about the distance when I was talking about leaving, but he has not made any attempt at contact with myself or our child in the last 2 weeks. Not one phone call. I have decided to view this as a blessing. He has choices about how he handles the separation - if he chooses to use it as an excuse to drink and abandon his child, then we are better off without his continued influence. DS seems to be dealing well in spite of his dad's lack of contact - he has a lot of people here to love him and listen to his crazy four-year-old stories!
Overall, DS and I are excellent. I am happy and free. Our house is full of family and laughter. Thanks to all my friends here at SR for your wisdom, advice, patience, and strength. Leaving was the right choice for me.

What an excellent update! :ghug
I'm so excited for you and your new life, and you have a new beau too!
I'm also tickled pink to hear your DS is adjusting so well. I have no doubt he feels the lack of drama, all the love, and most importantly, a happy mom! :ghug

TC, I love hearing how your life is evolving, beautifully.
You are wise and demonstrate phenomenal strength and patience and resiliency. You inspire others.
Must admit, I like hearing that you have connected with a healthy mature man. This is my one big fear: meeting more of the same. Do mature healthy men exist?
Thanks for sharing your story. You and your DS will continue to thrive.
