Bernadette pretty well nailed it. This is why I said he is in detox right now.

I might add that in severe cases medically supervised detox is recommended. Alcohol detox can be fatal. I damn near died when I detoxed. The police would never hold someone for a DUI that was as severely in need of detox as I was - too much liability that the person would die while in custody.

I do not mean to be minimizing your H's issues with alcohol vs mine; just to inform you how bad it can get. And it will, if he doesn't stop. Alcoholism is progressive.

My husband got a DUI today and I could really use some helpI want to send him to detox
We cant drag someone off a bar stool, they need to want to get help for themselves. He needs to hurt enough to want it. you know the saying "you can bring a horse to water but you cant make them drink" You sound very upset by all of this so lets talk about you..and you need to get that help ...but.. for yourself. Try not to enable your husband by fixing and sorting out his mess for him. If you keep doing that he willl keep doing what he is doing. He needs to suffer the consequences of his actions and own his own behaviour
