When your ex calls and suggests the two of you get back together, and you laugh so hard, and for so long, that you think you're going to pee your pants. Right before hanging up.

when you meet a new man person and you don't automatically wonder if he has a cooler in the back of his truck


when you look in the mirror, and think......hey, i AM pretty

when you review your bank statement and there are no transactions at the liquor store!!!


when your hallway closet is NO longer the 'liquor cabinet' (all eight shelves!)

When I reach into the back of the toilet to fix the stopper and I don't find a bottle

... you feel joy when invited to a party instead of anxiety.

...when you can breathe again...

awww yes.....breathing. all stress gone from my neck and shoulders.

(and i found out it wasn't me peeing all over the toilet like he said)

oh, and i can keep my scripts in the cabinet without fear they will disappar.

Yes, life has it's stresses, but those are normal. I feel light and airy after getting out from under that stress. And breathing :)

When you call your GF you actually know who is going to answer the phone instead of wondering will it be Dr Jekyll or Mr Hyde

When you call your Girlfriend and she actually answers the phone and doesn't "disappear" for three days at a time.

you expect special events to go smoothly, and they do....cept for the dip that didn't turn out right. but no big deal, right?

I HATED the holidays for 14 years, from Thanksgiving thru new years was a no holds barred drunkfest. Very high anxiety for a codie trying to control his A's drinking.

Not any more, got two invites so far from my family of choice, my Alanon family. There won't be any drunks there, at least not "active" ones!

lemme think here.....oh! i have one......you can do dishes when you want to, can vacuum when you want to, can do just about anything that you want to without that sick, hurry up to make someone else happy.....altho it doesn't....

when you can stretch out on the bed with a book and the tv on and think.....THIS IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS!!!!! and you get intense pleasure out of it

just being out of the chaos is a miracle for us. everything becomes brand new again.
