Biting my tongue
Biting my tongue
Some days I don't feel like I've made a whole lot of progress, and others I can.
Last night out of the blue and after 10 pm, youngest AD informs me, after she was going to be home the rest of the night, that she's taking off to a club 50 miles away to meet up with two friends/coworkers.
I went on about my business, and eventually went to bed because it does absolutely no good to get myself worked into a lather.
Turns out she blew a header on the new car she's had less than a month (she called me at God knows what time to let me know, and somehow some guys had cobbled the header together enough for her to drive home). Her coworker got ready to leave the club, and discovered a side window had been broken out, credit card and debit card stolen, cell phone stolen, along with $100 cash.
I was so concerned I promptly fell back asleep and didn't remember half the conversation this morning!
The car's in the shop today and she hasn't even made the first payment on it.
There is still that damnable 'mother knows best' inside of me, but I am really learning to quiet that urge down and just let her deal with the consequences!
I am so incredibly grateful for all of you further along in your journey who have given me the tools to continue doing what I need to do for myself, and allow the AD to deal with her own crap.
I'm picking up my grandkids later today, and I'm taking them to see Beverly Hills Chihuahua tonight at our little theater here!

Thanks! I think a huge part of my letting go in the middle of the night is that I'm just too old and tired to even put forth the effort to get upset and lose sleep!
Heck, when she totaled her last car and the cops showed up at my house to talk to her, it was 2:30 in the morning, and I went back to bed because it was her stuff to deal with, and fell asleep cuddled up with 3 of my dogs.
I was quite well rested the next morning. She wasn't.

I love your humility, Freedom....lately, I have been noticing how clear and consistently steel trap strong you have been in your recovery....which has been very helpful to me...
