Yay, all's good
Yay, all's good
I got the feeling I only tend to start new threads when things aren't going too well for me, so I thought I'd start one when things are going well for a change.
I've been feeling really well for a few weeks now, since my brother came home from hospital I made a promise to myself that if he contacted me, fine, I'd speak to him and be civil or if it was good just go with the flow. So far I've managed to keep that up. I feel no need to contact him anyway, although that sometimes changes if I have some issue where I need something signing for school etc for Joe.
I also promised myself I wouldn't discuss my brothers issues with my mum, or his sister in law, they both seem to want to pick over every little thing he does and try to work out why, again, I don't feel the need for this. Now if they get close to doing it I just tell them I don't want to discuss whatever it is they're talking about.
I just feel like I drew a line in my head when he was in hospital and it's all been so much easier to deal with since. He says he isn't drinking, although I do know he's in the pub most nights and his social habits haven't changed (it's difficult not to know when I live so close) but it's all irellevant to me, he still doesn't visit his son, or phone him, and as far as we're concerned his behaviour hasn't changed at all. Mine and Joes has though, we're doing great, and so are my other two lads. We're off on holiday next week and we're all going to have a great time.

I'm so glad you are not letting your brother's life bring you down.
It's hard to watch someone screw up their life, but you are doing it with dignity and grace, and are giving the boys (especially Joe) a living, breathing example of how to really live life!
Hugs and prayers!

We're going to Wales, hopefully a few nice walks, a little fishing for the boys and a week of chilling out.
