Need prayers
My X AH has had a bad asthma attack an is in the ICU and is on a breathing tube. He completly passed out and the Dr.s are keeping him that way, this I do not understand. They also said he may have some heart damage.
I'm scared, I can't go thru anything else, I'm not to sure I will make it. I have not told the kids, I figure it will do no good.
Do you think the heart damage is do to all the years drinking?
Thanks,
Kermmie

You have my prayers and thoughts. {hugs}
There can be all sorts of reasons to keep him unconscious. There can be heart damage that is serious and heart damage that isn't all that much of a concern. At this point it sounds like you (and the docs) don't know just what has happened or what it means. Worrying won't change whatever it is. As hard as it can be, try to let go and let God. Its in His hands anyway.
As for telling the kids, it sounds like there's not much to say yet. It won't hurt to wait til you do know something.

You are both in my thoughts and prayers. I echo what Barbara52 said, about keeping him unconscious, I remember they did that on an episode of ER and I asked my mom about it (She's a nurse) and she said they often do that to lessen the stress on a patient's body and allow them to heal quicker and easier.
You can make it through this.

(((((kermie)))))) I know you are scared about what might happen. When I'm feeling that way it helps me to tell myself to just deal with what 'is' and not what 'might be.'
I'll be praying for your ex, for you and the kids too.
Please keep us updated when you get more news.

It might be time to give it up to your HP and those fine doctors.... and know that we are all there with you , praying and surrounding you in a blanket of love.

Well. I called the hospital, talked with the nurse ( I was on the list) he is doing well, they say that tomorrow morning they will wake him up and see if they can get him breathing on his own. The nurse said that his lungs are clear and that his blood work this afternoon looked much better, as for his heart, they believe that the enzymes came back high because he was working so hard to breath, but his heart should be just fine. Thank you for all your prayers, I will let you all know how he is tomorrow.

Many Many prayers out to you, him and the kids Kermie
And I agree with cmc- Live with the "what is" not the "what will be"
Staying focused in the present and giving it over to our HP is
less stress for ourselves..

Sorry I'm late on this, but sending you prayers. They will often put people on ventilators (breathing machines) with a severe asthma attack. Most of the time they will chemically paralyze and sedate them....this makes the body not be in the "fight or flight" syndrome...which means it lets the body relax, and allows the meds to help his lungs. (I used to be an ICU nurse)
I'm glad he's doing better. Don't be surprised if he has a little trouble coming off the ventilator at first...it's normal to fight having a tube down your throat, but they don't want to take it out until he's breathing better. Not trying to scare you at all...just want you to know that it's normal and they will be watching him very, very carefully.
Hugs and prayers!
