Holding resentments/anger toward someone else is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to drop dead.
That's the type of thinking that helps me. Anger eats a person up from the inside out while the one we are angry at goes about their merry business not feeling a thing. I look at it like a game of sorts. I have a competitive nature.

If I get angry, they win.

Great thread- I've posted the same sort of question too. Anger was always a scary thing for me when I was a child, so I'm learning how to do it in a healthy way. . .

I go for hard walks with my dog
Scream in my car while listening to Soundgarden on HIGH! Korn and Metallica sound like good choices too! :o)
The best for me when I have no one to talk about it to is my journal- I have a lot of swear words and all caps and !!!!!!!!!!! as well!
My therapist and I work on anger- and I can say anything I need to to her- it's probably the best way to get it out- telling someone.

I found al-anon to be hard at first, but over time realized I could speak my mind there too- including anger. The people in your meeting are probably serene because they've already gone through a lot of their anger. Everyone is at a different place in their recovery. I believe you have to feel it- all of it. So- keep doing what you're doing. It sounds like you are doing some good things for yourself. Yoga? I really need to find myself a class. (((Take care!)))

Lisawayne.....thanks for sharing....so many interesting points ahead. Read read read learn learn learn all here at SR thats what I did and still do. There are many many wonderful experienced people who have been right where you are today.

Take what you like and leave the rest......I have also found that sometimes the posts that you want to leave are quite possibly the ones you should pay most attention too! Just my experience.......I have learnt so much.

I also had lots and lots of anger but since working hard on myself and detaching as much as possible from My husbands drinking the anger is less and less and less. Once I started focusing on myself things got much much better and easier all round. And yes we do still live together....it isn't always easy BUT it is much much easier than it was 12 months ago......I have been educating myself more and more and more. I am happy again and life is pretty damn good :0)

Baby steps my friend.

SR is a fantastic outlet for me. I have learnt so much and come a long long way....so I wish you the very best and many of us here understand.
People here GET IT! Know what I mean??!!

Wishing you the very best Phiz :0)
