good news

Well,
My husband has made it beyond 90 days without a drink and is doing great. I just can't believe it! But, I'm really happy that things are going well for him.

I witnessed him being tested yesterday. We were at a 4th of July party and there were people there that don't know my husband. They offered him a drink ('there's beer, wine....') and he said 'no thanks. I've already got something'. he was drinking lemonade. He really didn't seem that stressed by it.

Today, he was working outside (and it's hot here in NY) and I asked him what he would like to drink. He replied 'a beer' and then said 'ice water would be great'.

I'm sooooo glad that things are going well. I am really hoping that he continues on this path (actually he is at a 'double header' - two AA meetings in a row) tonight. He was a little short of 90/90 so he is now working on that by adusting his start date and trying to get in 90 meetings in 90 consequtive days.

Happy 4th to everyone.

No Doubt -

I'm so happy for you and your husband. It sounds like he is working his program. I know that each day that goes by without drinking makes the next one seem more possible. Thanks for your words to me tonight. They helped.

((((((NoDoubt)))))))

I'm so happy for you! Each day passed is a good thing! 90 days--I can't even imagine it!

Mine quit on the 11th. He is not working any plan--so I know that is bad--though I'm looking at the bright side. At least for now he's livable.

NoDoubt,
That is the best news I've heard all day!!!!!I am so happy for you!
My husband is trying to get on the right path. He has been sober for a about a week and a half now. I couldn't believe he made it through the 4th without slipping. He turned down an offer for a beer and drank water and iced tea instead.:) That's progress but I'm not holding my breath until he starts going to meetings regularly.

Hugs,
2many

Thanks Ann!

2 Many - hope your husband can continue on this path (hope mine can too!!) Passing up beer on the 4th is a REALLY BIG STEP! I am trying to be creative with the drinks available for him to drink in our home. So far his favorite is this Italian Sparkling water (Peligrino? - more expensive than beer - oh well)
