Celebrating 23 years.....

of marriage with my wonderful husband.

Last night, my dear husband took me to a lovely dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We told our server that it was our anniversary. She replied "that is so wonderful". Then looking at my husband she said "you didn't have a mid-life crisis?" And he said "no". She said quietly "my ex did after 20 years. He decided he needed to be free and ride motorcycles and wander."

I explained that my husband was #2 and that I didn't do so well with my first one either.

At the end of our meal, she brought us a HUGE piece of chocolate cake to share. She said "you're celebrating your 25th?" and I said "No...our 23rd" and she said "I hope you do something special for your 25th." And I said that I'm sure we would as my husband is such a dear.

She said "I'm working on getting a #2 husband. I hope I do as well. You've given me hope."

My husband left her a very very very generous tip. I told him that I thought that her ex was probably an alcoholic. He said "yeah....I got that feeling too. That's why I tipped so well. I figured she needed a day brightener."

I'm hoping and praying for her that she does do well on #2 husband. I'm glad that we gave her hope.

I'm so sorry.....it was a delightfully rich, dense, moist chocolate cake. We ate it all.

ummmm.....it was a triple decker with wonderful frosting and slivers of chocolate all over it. AND it was beautifully presented with a drizzle of chocolate over the slice of cake and the plate. I'm feeling the weight gain just thinking about it.

How was that?

It's funny that you say that. My husband is just like his father......I mean exactly like him. When my husband and I were first married, I use to tease him that if I hadn't married him, I would have wanted to marry his dad. (Of course, this was just teasing because his dad was married to his mother ;-)

He does have two brothers......both are married but I think I got the gem of the bunch.

My husband will laugh when I tell him that you want clones of him. He is such a humble man.

Thank you for all of the well wishes. You are all such wonderful people. You all deserve the best that life has to offer.

gentle hugs

You're not that far away you know......you could always come down and have a slice with me!!! In fact, I was in your neighborhood this morning.....well....not really your neighborhood.....I was in Auburn.

But I gained FOUR POUNDS from that delicious dinner! How does that happen!?!!! There wasn't FOUR POUNDS of food on the plate.....including the cake!

So far....the 24th is looking good! Time does fly when you're having fun!

Wow.....that's sort of a coincidence......our first date 23+ years ago was at Salty's at Redondo! On Monday we went to a little restaurant in Port Orchard.....use to be Tveten's but has been taken over and is now called Gino's. It's actually a lovely restaurant and the food was quite good. Did I tell you about the fillet mignon (sp) and lobster tail? Ok.....now you see why I gained four pounds.

i bet some of those pounds are pure love and delight.....
I was hoping that love and delight were calorie FREE!

Your post gives me hope that there's still time for me to find a loving, healthy, and supportive partner--something I've never experienced before. It also serves as a good reminder about how much I've short-changed myself in the past by settling for much less than I deserved. It's reminders like this that keep me coming back to SR.

I want to have it all--and eat that damn cake, too.
