When my mind is no longer focused on someone else's problems...
there's just no stopping me. On Saturday my brother and I painted my front door and shutters and mailbox. Then I had a flooring company stop by to measure my kitchen and family room for new flooring. Afterwards I mowed the lawn, did five loads of laundry, cooked dinner, then watched a Netflix with my daughter.
Today my brother and I did some landscaping in my backyard. We added two new beds. Next weekend, we'll plant some new shrubs in the back and flowers in the front. Then tonight I'll be doing my grocery shopping for the week, catching up on my housecleaning, and stopping by Home Depot to select my new flooring (the floors I chose last week have been discontinued).
Tomorrow I'm heading out to buy some new pillows, rugs, and accessories for my front porch as well as paint to freshen up my porch furniture.
So, in the last few weeks, I've redecorated my daughter's bedroom and bathroom, my bedroom, my family room and hallway, my back deck, my front porch, repainted my home, and added new landscaping to the back.
It's amazing how much I can accomplish now that my mind is free from another person's problems. Now I not only have a peaceful and nurturing home, but a beautiful home as well. It's wonderful to sit back after a long hard day's work and enjoy the fruits of my labor.

Woo hoo!
You GO, FD! That is so cool.
This is an excellent, concrete example of what we get when we really let go and focus on ourselves.
I bet your place looks great -- and getting better all the time.

Congrats on accomplishing so much! Its a great feeling I'm sure.
I managed to wash and then wax the wood floors throughout my apartment. Dang they look good! Its amazing what difference I feel having my living space looking spiffy.
ANd I started reading a new Stephern King novel, Duma Key. Its pretty good so far. I love a good scary novel now and then.

Well, I've accomplished all the tasks I set out to do earlier today. Just getting ready to put on a Netflix (tonight's selection is "A Good Year") and have some strawberry shortcake and coffee and watch a movie with my daughter and all the pooches.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Night all.

Soooo....where are the pix???? You shared pix of your home updates with us last time. If I remember correctly, it was the front porch! Can't slack off now!!!
And yes, not concentrating on the problems and issues of others allows us to focus on ourselves...not only on our 'own issues', but our 'pleasures' as well!!

OK, so the siding on my house is light grey, the trim is white, and the shutters (which used to be a country greyish-blue) are now jet black. Hello stately manor, goodbye country home.
So, in keeping with my new more sophisticated exterior color scheme, I've settled on black, red, and lime for the front porch. Sounds a bit odd, but I've got it all worked out in my head and I think it will look great. Plus, nobody else will likely have a similar decor.
If you remember the photos of my porch I posted previously, last year's decor was a mix of pastels (soft pinks, greens, blues, and oranges) with polka dotted pillows, stripped rugs, and all the porch furniture painted in various pastels to match.
Today is my day off, so I'm off to Home Depot in a few minutes to buy the paint. The pillows, cushions, and rug are on order from Pottery Barn and should be here in just a few days. Next weekend, I'll plant the flowers and snap some pics to share with you all. Can't show pics until my vision becomes a reality and everything is looking peachy.
I saved the money for these transformations by foregoing my vacation last year and cashing in the money instead. It seems that where there's a will, there's a way.
I'm also learning that there is no lack of money, even in today's tough economic times. I just have to focus on getting out there and grabbing my fair share. The more I believe that I'm worth it and that I deserve it, the more money seems to flow my way. Plus, having read "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne didn't hurt, either.
My philosophy was to read the book with an open mind and then apply the principles she shared. It's worked very well for me in many aspects of my life.
