I think I am ready to change my screen name

I've been thinking lately that maybe it's time for me to change my screen name from CoDeependentMe to something new. I think it is appropriate at this time because I just don't feel as deeply codependent as I did when I first joined this forum. I feel as though I have had enough 'SR therapy', Al Anon, Counselling, Sponsor Coaching that I am finally ready for a new name.

Although, I don't think I am completely recovered by any means I do feeling stronger both mentally and emotionally. I feel able to face whatever the future has to offer without fear. I have a lot to face in my near future. I will post that separately.

I'd like to keep my Avatar because in many ways it represents me. The bright colors symbolize the future and deep tones within the background represent the depth of my past experiences. The black markings in the butterflies are my scars that only make the rest of the color contrast appear so brightly. The varying sizes represent conscious growth; their metamorphisis from egg, larva, pupa, chrysalis to butterfly is all part of unconscious development into something beautiful. I wonder if they know in their early stages that they are destine for such beauty. I love butterflies in general because they are so delicate and light with the ability to land so graciously in all kinds of situtation.

I was thinking that since every member on this forum has been so helpful to me that perhaps members could help me come up with a new screen name.

I think this is a wonderful idea to reidentify yourself!

As a suggestion, as you relate to the growth alteration/metamorphosis and varying beauty of the butterfly, hows about adopting as your name...

''Butterfly''

Congratualtions on your growth and recovery so far...

How about papillon? French for 'butterfly'.

I loved the depth you used to identify with your avatar. I picked mine because, simply, it was one of the few pics I had to hand at the time, and it reminds me of bright sunshiny days and happiness. Perhaps I'll look into getting a different pic!

pick a name that speaks to your future even though you don't see it now.

I love the Italian word for butterfly, "farfalla". It's beautiful and meaningful to you.

Oooh I love all these ideas...
but mostly I think it is very telling that you want to change your screen name!!!
I think it is a significant sign that it has started to bother you or no longer defines you when you see it pop up there.

I love transformation and words have tremendous power.
I am so grateful to you and all the great folks who post here and help me beyond measure with just their words of wisdom, experience, advice, solace, etc. !!

Good luck I'll be watching for the new you - I haven't been on here long but now I will see your new name and sigh with a smile and say "...I knew her when."
-Peace,
B.

!!! I am sooo excited reading these replies!!!! I don't always have time on the weekend to get caught up on all the replies but I am literally bouncing in my chair as I read all the great suggestions this sunny Sunday morning!

I had to change the font too because the regular Arial font is too serious for how I am feeling these days and black just won't do any longer for this topic.

Thanks for all the great suggestions, they each bring a smile to my face. Even my fingers are tapping happily. hehehehe

What about...
Chrysalis because I still have a long way to go.
Definition:
1. A pupa, especially of a moth or butterfly, enclosed in a firm case or cocoon.
2. A protected stage of development.

Pupa is also a term of endearment in italian often used in reference to someone young. Although, I am no longer young, lol, I am young in my recovery.
The cocoon can be viewed as the recovery process and everything related to it - Al Anon and it's tools, sponsor, therapy and Sober Recovery. These things keep me protected.
Protected by my HP
Development - because I am a work in progress.

Oh, and lastly...because the letters of my actual name are in the word!

Love it! It is like a deep inner stage full of change and possibilities!
And a reminder that you are safe.

Great idea! Good luck on nailing just the right one. It's a good thing our screen-names aren't able to automatically change with how we feel - I think this forum would have to go to Mature only! ;-)

I think Chrysalis is perfect. It won't be hard to recognize the new you if you keep the same avatar. I say go for it!

CoD- What did you decide? I totally missed out on this one. When I was trying my name out I thought about Mariposa- but I think it was taken. So I decided on Pajarito- Spanish for "little bird." Love your avatar too. . .
