Humility 2
hu·mil·i·ty –noun the quality or condition of being humble; modest opinion or estimate of one's own
importance, rank, etc.---dictionary.com
"Humility is the defining characteristic of an unpretentious and modest person, someone who does not think that he or she is better or more important than others.
The term "humility" is derived from the Latin word "humilis", which is translated not only as humble but also alternatively as "low", or "from the earth".[1] Because the concept of humility addresses intrinsic self-worth, it is emphasized in the realm of religious practice and ethics where the notion is often made more precise and extensive. Humility as a religious or spiritual virtue is different from the act of humiliation or shaming."---wikipedia

The following is from 52 Weeks of Concious Contact by Melody Beattie:
HUMILITY (2 in a series of 7)
So, I beg God and beg God to help me do something. I'm in absolute despair. Then, I try again, fail and beg God some more. Finally, I surrender to God's Will. And with God's help, I accomplish what I could not do on my own.
"Look at what I did," I proudly say when I am done.
We can feel good about what we do. But in a do-it-yourself society, a little humility is good. Humility is an honest response to life.
Application: Don't worry about when to practice humility. If we forget to do it, this value will find us, all on its own.

What I like about aa, alanon and 12step groups is that they teach spiritual principles.
I love Melody Beattie's books...this is a great one!
Please feel free to comment on Humility...It will help me process it. I am meditating on this principle this week.
