OT ~ Wicked Bummed.....
I got hurt playing in a dodgeball tournament on Sat!! I was in the first game because there had to be 2 girls at all times, i was doing awesome then it it happened, it had only been 2 minutes into the 5 minute round!!! I bent down to get a ball, while dodging another one and rolled my foot. I sprained my foot AND ankle!
I'm wicked bummed because it's my driving foot, on cruches and air cast, and i'm on vacation all next week. Ugggghhh, I will never take for granted walking, can't even get up and down the stairs to my apt. and to the other room is a chore lol!!! See what i get for being a joiner lol!!!
Well anyways, just coming here to say hi to everyone and now i can be here 24/7 lol, hope to be a help here and hope everyone is feeling a little bit better as the days pass
GO PATS!!

Ouch HBB! That must hurt!
After I had a bunion removed, I had to shimmy up and down the stairs on my butt for a couple of days. Lost a couple of inches that way too! Could that be a silver lining?
Heck, my foot is fine now, but perhaps I'll shimmy down the stairs anyway...I could use to loose a few inches there! Just trying to make you laugh!

ICU ~ i need to lose inches too! i'm determined not to eat out of couch bound and bordem!! My friend is driving me when she goes to the gym so i can do upper body!!!
lucy ~ dodgeball is 2 teams of 6 players and there are 6 balls and you throw them at each other and try to hit someone else while avoiding getting hit by them and the last team with a player in the game wins. I was avoiding that other ball and that's how i ended up this way!!! lol!!

Sorry to hear that, hbb.
Lots of time to do some emotional recovery work, though, whilst you are physically recovering. I found this today The Work of Byron Katie if you want something to have a look at.

Hey Heather! Sorry about the foot & ankle. You are right, all it takes is having a problem with some part of the body to really make a person realize how much we take good health for granted!
And on VACATION! Sheesh! How long do you have to have the crutches/cast?
Great to hear from you, but I'm peeved that it's at the expense of you being kept down. Rats!

Lucy - Dodgeball is a game many in the US played as kids in school, and has undergone a resurgence amongst adults.
Two teams line up in a gym facing each other with rubber balls... they throw them at the other team - if you get hit by a ball - you are "out". Last team with members still in, wins.

At least, that's how we played it 20....er 40! years ago!

Sorry about your boo boo! (As you can see I have a 3 yr old!)
I agree with Anvil....the Universe is telling you something! As much as it is awful to be in pain and hobble around, try to enjoy what you can!

Painful... I did that last year my leg looked like I got hit with a baseball bat. Training a dog no less. Have a great vacation anyway, an excuse to baby yourself and take it easy.

Awww thanks alot, you guys are awesome! Ya, actually i sprained a finger last year playing volleyball! Maybe it's a sign i need to stop playing sports altogether lol!!! Na, i do agree, with slowing it down to see a different perspective. I went out tonight and had fun with my friends to watch the Pats win (again)!!! I can certainly deal with this, it's nothing, just a bit wobbly!!! I'll be spinning in no time, i hope

I love Dodge ball! But ouchie!!!
I have had several bone/back/shoulder etc.. injuries-
And I have learned that ICE for 15 minutes then HEAT for 15 minutes is a great way to get rid of some of that pain!
Lots of luck with that sweets!
Did you have fun at least?

Woo, great idea about the physical therapist! I had knee problems a couple years ago and went to a local orthopedic surgeon. Oh my, he's very, very handsome. Married, but it's not immoral looking and not lusting. Okay, maybe a smidgen. Anyway, about a month ago my back started hurting, so I called to see if he'd figure out the problem. He doesn't do backs, the scheduler said. Doggone it, I had to go to my regular doc, who is nice, but not hot.
So Heather, do some interviewing of your prospective PTs and maybe this will be a blessing in disguise!

I've been icing yesterday, it's so hard because it's like 15 degrees here in Boston lol!! I'm going to attempt shopping with my mum today, we'll see what happens!
We have another tournament in March to play dodgeball again, i can't wait. I'm going out there with sneakers to my knees that time!
