Being the nitpicker about writing that I often am, I took exception to the wording of this quote, since it implies that we could heal someone against their will or w/o their help, which many of us have seen is just not true. After a little searching, I found this, which might be a little closer to the original intent of the statement:
If someone wishes for good health, one must first ask oneself if he is ready to do away with the reasons for his illness. Only then is it possible to help him.

Hippocrates was a physician teaching others Healers but it can be asked of the patient, "Before you heal someone (yourself), ask him (yourself) if he's (you're) willing to give up the things that made him (yourself) sick." Hippocrates
