My first husband and I had a working relationship regarding our children. We did not argue or fight or put our children in the middle of our differences. I was the alcoholic mom although my ex drank he could also stop when he wanted to. :caveman

After we both divorced our second spouses, we eventually got back together and did remarry six years ago. I was 61 and he was 64. We have a very good marriage and all of our children were so happy to see us together again. :comfort

I had been sober about fourteen years when we remarried. He did not drink anymore so we do have a sober house even when our drinking kids come home to visit. They either go out to party or go to some of their friends.

That is a lovely story! I am so happy for you... and it further confirms my belief that life is weird.

My ex is still drinking. That's why we're not together. I guess things ended before the love got completely ruined, though.

I don't know. No kids between us (thank goodness) so I guess there is no official excuse to stay in touch. Actually, there is no excuse at all. It's just what I want to do. I think the guy should know that he is loved. Knowing people love me gives me a lot of strength. It's good for you!

(That said, I am going to take a little time to make sure that I'm over the whole thing, and keep it pretty distant for a gooood long while. I'm knitting him a sweater. I'm not very fast, so I figure by the time I'm done I will check in with how I'm feeling about things and see if I want to send it off. We're the same size, so I can always keep it if I reconsider!)
