This has been a long journey with my brother who is an A. He recently got out of jail after 9 months-before that he lost everything his marriage, job of 25 years and his children. He was bleeding from his liver and so on and so on.

Over the past 3 weeks since he has been out of jail I was able to detach with love and speak with him when I had the strength to do so without allowing his chaos into my life- He called a lot and I was not able to talk to him and had to let him go-I use to feel guilty about doing this but not anymore-I'm proud of myself that I have come to the point in my life that I'm aware of what is going on around me and in my life and feel compassion for my brother that I have never felt before. Thanks to ME, my HP, Al-Anon and SR!

I got news that he went and checked himself into a rehab yesterday on his own! Our entire family stopped speaking to him-although it was mostly me who spoke to him anyway, I pray that this is now where he has reached his bottom. He has been drinking since he was 13 years of age-he will be 51 in January and I want my brother to live, I have turned him over to my HP as there is nothing I can do for him.

Please send healing thoughts for my brother-I love him and I want to see him beat this addiction-it has been a tuff road but I think he finally has reached the end-

Thank you all so very much for the prayers-

I was actually told the truth today by mother which I guess as she has always in the past felt like she needed to protect us from the truth...

My brother was actually found in a hotel room-he was unable to move and near death-so he did not turn himself into rehab it was once again court ordered....just wanted to fill you guys in. I know how this court ordered stuff has failed in the past so I will be praying harder than ever that this is not the case this time.

This is such a tuff disease to recover from and the compassion that I have for my brother and all of our recovering A's in SR is emmense!

To the A's here in SR please believe in yourself that you guys can get through this and keep on truckin forward! I'm so proud of those of you are here and sticking with fighting this monster.

I'm sorry he was found in such a critical state Rella. Let's hope this will be a new beginning for him, even if it was court-ordered.

May be a good time to be extra gentle with yourself too. May I suggest burning a nice candle and perhaps a bubblebath?
