Let Me Introduce Myself
Let Me Introduce Myself
Hi everyone..I am new here and really grateful to have found this site. All the information I have read so far is great! After 31 years of marriage to AH, I think I am getting it. Maybe..just maybe. I attended Alanon years ago and starting up again. I am living in a small town now where the Alanon group is kind of small, so also am attending the AA meetings. I don't know if my AH is ever going to get sober again..but, I realize, it isn't up to me to do that. I am trying to focus on my "character defects"..being judgemental, resentful, angry, needy, self-pity, etc. lol. Too many, so it should keep me busy for a long time. This seems to be a great place to start on that!
Hi Sadie,
Glad to meet you, pull up a chair, get comfortable, lots of great people here.
Keep posting, read others posts, and when you feel up to it, respond to others posts.
We are all trying to row in the same direction, and, we need each other's support.

Hey Sadie,,welcome to SR,,,,,
Character defects? I'm thinking its 31 years with an A?!?!?!?
I'm all those things you mentioned too. But funny, its only when DEALING with my A. Otherwise, I'm funny, cute, happy and a peace loving hippie who lives in the day and LOVES life. I believe every day is a GIFT.
What helped me most when I fisrt started my journey to recovery was the three c's:
I didn't cause it
I can't control it
I can't cure it
What I CAN do is detacha and take care of myself.
And your right, SR is the perfect place to start,,,Can't wiat to get to know you
Peace

I'm glad you're here. Thirty-one years is a long time to live with an alcoholic, but it sounds like you are really on the right track to learning more about yourself. That is a great undertaking. Please keep posting and letting us know how it's going. Welcome - keep coming back!
Thank you one and all for your encouraging words. I am gleaming alot right now from the sticky notes, and posts. I am not sure what I can add at the moment. I don't want to get into AH bashing or get on the pity pot. I just want to focus on my recovery, working my program, and working on the things I know I can change. I am trying to focus on what I am grateful for today. The whys, the shoulda coulda stuff doesn't matter for me today. I now know that my circumstance brought me to reach out to my HP and that is a GOOD THING. TODAY is all I have, TOMORROW, will be a gift, and YESTERDAY was a blessing. Have a great and blessed day everyone!
