Recovery Date
Recovery Date
My recovery date is just as important as the AHs. People say that when an alcoholic gets sober that date means alot to them. That if they didn't get sober they could die.
My recovery is just as important because I could have died, too. Not by the "bottle" but by my own hand. I have learned that life is too short to let the Alcoholic in my life overpower my will. I have learned the most important person to take care of is me. I have larned to stop enabing, controlling, etc.
And for this I am GRATEFUL!
My recovery date is June 29, 2004.

My AA recovery date is 6/7/81. However, at 3 years sober my sponsor literally insisted that I also attend Alanon.
My Alanon date is 6/7/84.
That date, June 7th, is so much more important to me than my natal birthday!!!!
Recovery dates are VERY IMPORTANT for ALL of us!!!!

Love and hugs,
My Al-Anon Recovery Date is
September 3, 2003
For that I will always be very, very grateful!!
(I also like to call that my date to be introduced to a world of sanity, cause I had no sanity in my life prior to Recovery)

Whilst I read here for a while, I count my recovery date as May 14 2004 - that date I registered here and so started an incredible journey, rather than just being an observer.
And yes, my recovery is the most important thing for me. Without it I am adrift in the sea of my patterning.

My Recovery Birthday is December 21, 2004....The day I attended my first Al anon meeting.
My husbands Recovery Birthday is December 5, 2004, 10 days later he entered treatment after recovering from withdrawals.
My withdrawals lasted much longer than his and my recovery more difficult because I am a STUBBORN one. LOL

I cant for the life of me remember the day when i first came to Al-anon,.My mind was in an alcoholic fog big time.I went to Al-anon ,with the intention,to find ways to fix my loved one,and eventually realized this program ,was a recovery program for myself, and my own recovery.. a gal there suggested, that i go to AA also. She was alcoholic. And when i did,i finally admitted that i too am alcoholic, and was---home--now with both recovery programs..**.Al-anon --June 1986}--{AA--who knows, but it was the year of 1987}....smile...
