Four reasons to go on vacation
Well, I just got back in today from a vacation with a girlfriend. We had a great time on a little 4-night cruise. It just meant so much to me for several reasons:
One, stbXAH never would agree to go on a cruise. He had it set in his head that it wouldn't be any fun, and even when I told him I had heard otherwise, he thought it was a waste of time. I always wanted to make that our vacation, but he flat out refused to even listen to why we might should.
Two, it was a decision I made for myself. I evaluated my finances, thought it was a little frivolous but dipped into my savings just a bit, and went for it. I chose to go on that vacation, and I might have to watch my pennies a bit closer for a month or two, but it was my decision.
Three, I went with a friend of mine from where I live now, which is so cool because I was very lonely when I moved here. It represented that I now have great friends and a life of my own.
Four, I had a d*** good time and forgot about all the drama!
Just had to share....only you guys would understand how truly monumental this was!

Texasgirl,
That is awesome! I am laughing out loud b/c I just had a HUGE argument last week with my AH b/c I wanted to take our daughter on the Disney cruise and he flat out refused. He only wants to do what he wants to do. Hmmm... selfish again! That argument actually inadvertently led to SEPARATION! Of course, there were many other factors. But, I think (LOL!) out of all things that I finally realized life is NO FUN with him. I want and deserve happiness. And fun!!!

awesome, texasgirl, just awesome. remember when you felt so alone because you felt you had no friends there????
you've come a long way, baby. (you're probably too young to remember that slogan from the feminist era in the 60's....too bad it was associated with a huge cigarette campaign...lol)
anyway....good for you. simply wonderful.

I like the way you think TG!
When we were still living together, I had tried to get my XABF to go on a vacation to Disney - nope, not interested in the least...
I really needed a vacation...So, instead I went to Vegas with some girlfriends and had a blast! 3,000 miles away from the drama - priceless...
