Curious observation

This forum has more posts than the Alcoholicism and Alcoholism 12 step forums combined. By a large factor.

Just goes to show the path of destruction we leave in our wake........

GP, I want to know why we females love the male A's so extremely much??
Does the alcohol cause the male to elude more pheromones?
Well we know it relaxes inhabitions so the charm can flow, depending on the level of intoxication.
More females here to post as we have such a hard time learning that we could change, while those in AA are at a meeting every night.

I bet many males in AA would never bother with writing on a forum. Some A females might not either, they will talk over coffee but the heck with typing on here. That's why I am so pleased to see men on here, both A and Al-Anon.
Keep coming back! Love Ya Remember HALT

I've read where each alcoholic directly impacts between 4-7 people...could be part of the higher numbers on this site....hard to say. Interesting observation; I've noticed thode numbers myself.

Of course a lot of alcoholics never make it ito recovery....but sometimes their loved ones do.

They say God watches over drunks and little children. I guess we liked playing God.

Funny, I just read in "Addiction Why Can't They Just Stop" Among addiction treatment specialists, addiction has a negative impact on anywhere from 4 to 15 people. Do the count, think of people around you, brothers, sisters, mom, dad, aunts, uncles, spouses, bosses, etc.

Now multiply that number by 22.2 million addicts and you have a rough estimate of the devastating impact of addiction in this country.

Addiction is everyones problem, weather we chose it or not..

The numbers are stiffling. Bless us all, hope3

I think you see more women on this forum because, from the time they're very young, women are taught to put others' needs before their own. So there are millions upon millions of codies in the making.

It is said that each alcoholic and/or addict affects 20 people around them.

Even if it is half that amount there sure are more that need Al-anon and Naranon then the alkies and addicts themselves.

Ok... this is just my OPINION (and like armpits, we all have a couple...smile).

I see in my meetings a lot of women who -

Have low self-esteem/self-worth
Are perfectionists
Have issues with control and authority

(and I include myself at the TOP of this list, btw)

.... so we hook up with charming men who are happy letting someone else be in charge and fix things up exactly the way she believes is correct.

And everyone's needs are met... for a little while, anyway.

There is more to it than that... I feel an energy with an alcoholic - man or woman - that I do not feel with other codependents.

Know what the most boring meeting was for me? When a group of "men-only" Alanons came for a speaker meeting.... no sparks. Nope. Nothing.

Ok... please no one should take offense, most of these things I see best by looking in a mirror.

Actually I would have to agree and disagree with this.....

1 Yes a great amount of destruction is left in the A's wake.....
2 We leave alot of our own wake in our own lives by not making the choice to kick you into the wake yourself!
3 I know I can say for myself and maybe many in here I believe for both us and the A's sometimes just taking the chance that typing in here our feelings and sharing our stories can help us in any way then I say GO FOR IT! I believe that there are alot of people in this forum that do not type and want to but they maybe afraid to do so.....the ones that are ..they are gaining advice and more tools for their recovery and this is just my opinion (Opinions are like A-hole's we all have one)

Glass by the A's posting here along with us I see it as perspective on both levels and I believe that it will help us in our recovery and the A's in theirs.

I could be wrong but I doubt it! LOL :sly:

Just goes to show, we all need something or somebody, If we (addicts)

can change what we think we need and the codies can change what they

need, we would have a perfect match in heaven.

I love us all, we all need each other..............

We all need a helping hand, heres mine, take it please.

I've recieved hands from many here, addicts and codies.

Love and hope!

Your friend in recovery, Hope3
