has this happened to you??

This may sound really odd--but my AS and my mother keep giving me a hard time about being on the computer!!!!!
I tell them I am in an SR group and it is helping me--can I just have an hour a day please?
AS left and Mother went to 'bed'--it's like they are jealous??? How weird is that????

I was a gamer for more then a few years and loved it at the time...

Everyone gave me grief about it too.... I think people just like to live other peoples lives for them.... If they dont understand it or enjoy it they cant understand why you do.

My Ah does it, too. Except that I haven't told him what I'm doing on here. It's like my own secret thing and I don't want him to ruin it!

But, please, Sunflower, don't leave us!!! Your wisdom is tooooo valuable!!!

My EXAH used to whine all the time about me being on the computer instead of 'spending time with' him. Which translated into sitting on the couch beside him and getting dizzy from the constant click click click of the remote control while trying to talk to someone in a trance....

Oh, and never mind that I was running an online business and we needed to eat....

Awww, diddums - have they got their bottom lip out because you're paying attention to something else for a change?

Yes, I got this all the time. He think he knew this place held the keys to my cage and wanted to make sure I didn't get them.

Doesn't sound strange at all, I think we all get a little bit of an attitude if we are focused on our computers and not at the immediate beck and call of our housemates .... on the bright side, it is nice to know they miss your company!

I used to surf for all the freebies.
AH would complain about me being on the 'net.
But what did he do - he would sit in the basement smoking, drinking and talking on the phone.
At least when I was on the 'net - I was also supervising the kids, cooking supper, washing dishes - doing about 10 things at once.
And what did he do - nothing but complain.
How wonderful not to have that in my life anymore.
I've even cleaned out the basement now. Getting ready for spring clean up day - gettin rid of all that junk.

i don't have anyone around to mind if i'm on the puter or not.....cept rudy dog. and he sure doesn't mind.

now, once upon a time, in a land far, far away the queen would sit on one end of the couch and the king would sit on the other end of the couch and guess what? the queen wasn't even "allowed" to read, crochet, clean out her purse, or file her nails. the king wanted her sittng silently, staring at the tube, in the misery of silence.

so the queen said "pfffftt" on this crap, and filed her nails anyway. and the king said.....look, you are going to make me drink if you keep fidgeting like that.

and the queen said........ok.

and she lived happily ever after.

the beginning.

You are helping yourself and others coming to this site. You don't need permission from anyone to do that.

Ditto!!! Down to the last word, lol...

I get so bored watching TV (only what he wants to watch btw..)...I've even been "shushed" a few times because I was disturbing his watching because I spoke to him...but if I'm on the PC too long then we need to spend "quality" time together...funny really..I just ignore him if he starts now.

I also get grief about SR if I'm too "cold" with him....not very often but occasionally it annoys him that I'm not up his ass as much as I used to be....

Just do what makes you happy and ignore their whining!

If my AH notices that i'm on the SR site or reading a recovery book, he pretends that he doesn't see that but tries to get my attention in some subtle ways (e.g ask a question, tell me to look at our cat, etc) Guess he's very insecure inside. But no way he would admit that!

well ok nice to know I am not going crazy here.
I suppose in a way it has been hard for them to lose me..I was always in charge-taking care of everything and everyone..that has changed--due to my illness--which has been very hard on them I know. Now I am working on myself here and it seems to be making everyone a little edgy??Go figure? I just can't believe the baby antics because of it. The whole time I am on here they are both always talking to me asking me questions etc...the rest of the day no one bothers with me lol--Well I am staying here--I have made new friends who understand me-a few who may despise me(lol)--and learned so much about myself with all your sharing. I was so lost and alone until I came here...they are just going to have to deal with it....
this is a pic of my son at the ocean last year,,,,,,

I can relate, when I'm on the computer my husband decides thats the time he would like to tell me about his day. He's had hours to do it, then gets annoyed when I'm only listening with one ear.

My AH literally just said, "If something happens to me tomorrow you'll be sorry you spent the evening on the computer."
