Can you explain further about the "set up" of chemistry?? Were your emotions very tied up in the friendship when you choose no contact? Talk more about the "very real" losses and why your comfortable with the choice?? How did you heal and how did the no contact help with that.

I agree. Even if my ex stopped drinking and wanted to get back together with me, I realize now that our paths are different. I had to be with him, though to learn all of this now. Keeping contact wouldn't enrich my life. We really are just too different and I was trying to change who I was to fit into his life. I need to have friends and relationship partners that will complement me. I have to be true to myself in all aspects of my life.
