I just finished dinner and was studying for a law project and while eating dinner I thought, "FD definitely needs a couple of Chippendales to bump and grind at her b-day party." How 'bout it? Introducing Mr. Buck Naked and Mr. Hunka Burninlove!!!! I think it would be a hoot to get a couple of buff tanned 20-somethings in bow ties and g-strings dancing to "You Can Leave Your Hat On." EEEEEHHHHHAAAAAA!!!!! |

Thank you, everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed all the festivities here with my friends at SR, and I particularly enjoyed the images conjured up in my head of Buck and Mr. Buck Naked and Mr. Hunka BurningLove. My daughter just called me and volunteered to get started on cleaning the house to prepare for the arrival of my guests tomorrow. How adorably sweet was that? On a more serious note, I just received a call from a doctor at the VA Hospital informing me that Richard was admitted to the hospital a few minutes ago. I asked him if he was OK and he said, I'm not at liberty to say over the phone, but he was well enough to ask me to call you. I'm going to let him get settled in and call him later this evening to check on him. Other than that, I fully intend to go on with my party as planned tomorrow. Richard is in the best place he can be. I will let God and the loving hands of the folks at the VA Hospital take care of him. In the meantime, if you could keep him in your prayers, I'd really appreciate that. Again, thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Much love to all. |
You are in my prayers--Hope you have a great Birthday!! |

I want to thank everyone here who showed up for my party. I had a fabulous time. The food was great, the company was great, the cake was fabulous, and the entertainment was first-rate. Not only did Buck, and Mr. Hunka Burning Love and Mr. Buck Naked arrive, but the show climaxed (pun intended) with Mr. O. Gasm. Hey, a girl can dream can't she? Late Friday afternoon, my daughter called and asked me what she needed me to do around the house to prepare for my guests on Saturday. How adorable was that? When I got home from work, she'd vacuumed the entire house. On Saturday morning, I got up early to hit the grocery store to pick up a few last-minute items and my daughter cleaned the remainder of the house by the time I returned. Then after my guests left for the evening, she re-cleaned the entire downstairs. That, in itself, was a fabulous birthday gift. Then today, we spent a mother/daughter day out. We made a list of all the things we wanted to do together. I kept it in my pocket so we could check off things to make sure we fit everything we wanted to do in one day. We started the day off with a stop at a local sadlery. My daughter is a big horse lover and has asked for a saddle for her birthday in April. We didn't find a saddle she liked at a price we could afford (I figure it will take a while to find what we want), but it was a starting point in our search. Then we swung by the local mall. I wanted to buy a new outfit for me (I ended up buying four outfits for myself and three pairs of earrings) and some new summer shorts and tops for my daughter (she found some really cute things, too). Then we stopped by my favorite soup/sandwich shop and my daughter treated me to lunch. The gentleman behind the counter appeared to be quite taken with me, but I played good mom and ignored him as best I could. As we walked away from the register, my daughter said, "geeze, he LIKED you." I said, "gee, I didn't notice." It's nice to be noticed on your 47th birthday, especially with your 20-year-old daughter standing right next to you. After lunch, we stopped in at my favorite import store and then hit up our favorite book store. I added three more books to my rapidly growing reading stack. It'll take me a year to get caught up. So many good books to read, and so little time. We came home and heated up left-overs from the party then had coffee and some left-over birthday cake. The cake my sister baked for me was so fabulous, that I think I'll post the recipe in a new thread, so I can share it with everyone. Then we turned on HGTV's Dream Home give-away. Hoping, of course, that we'd one the $2.5M sky chalet in Winter Park, Colorado. Just as they were announcing the winner live, and between mouthfuls of cake, all four of our dogs began to bark simultaneously. We both stopped, forkfuls of cake suspended in mid air, and our eyes wide open, but alas when the doorbell failed to ring, we burst out in laughter. For a moment there, just one fleeting moment, we tought perhaps we'd won. My daughter said that I'm the only person she knows that can make a birthday celebration last three days. I say it's high time I celebrated my life in style. It was a fabulous birthday. I spoke with Richard this evening. He's scheduled to be released from the hospital tomorrow morning. Apparently, he'd passed out following an AA meeting (he's been attending daily outpatient rehab at the VA Hospital). When he did, he fell and hit his head on the floor and cracked it open. The fainting spell was caused by a combination of low blood sugar (he's a diabetic) and a rapid pulse (he suffers from atrial fibrillation and congestive heart failure). The doctors have adjusted his insulin and heart medications, they've also increased adjusted his diuretics, and now he's sporting a few staples in the back of his head. But he's doing much better now. After they discharge him tomorrow morning, he plans to right to his AA meetings. He says he can't miss one meeting, or he'll have to start back at the beginning. I got give him an "A" for effort in his attempt to stay sober and an "A" for doing his best to manage his health problems on his own. Once again, he's proven to be much stronger than I ever game him credit for. But then again, I've proven to myself these last two years that I'm much stronger than I ever thought, too. I wish everyone on this forum has as great a birthday as I had this year. |
