Any happily-ever afters out there?

I keep wondering if there are any couples out there that made it through intact? Seems like the longer I'm married (12 years), the worse AH's addiction gets and the worse it gets the more I wonder...are there any success stories out there?

For some reason, I thought this question was posted several nights ago. Yes, I know of two success stories. One occurred on this board to a lady who went by "Wraybear." Her husband, after serving jail time and injuring his own children in a serious auto accident while driving drunk, is now sober and sponsoring others in AA.

I have a girlfriend in Maryland who has a birthday on (I think!) March 8. It will be 17 years of sobriety for her. She met her second husband in AA. He has the same amount of time in as her. They've been married 15 years and have an 11-year old son they adopted from Russia when he was about 2. Both of them work their program and have a good life and a solid marriage.

Yes, there are.

I am living proof that when things seem at their darkest they can turn around.
It takes two willing partners though.

I agree it really does take commitment on both parties, one can't be more willing than the other... I wanted to go to therapy, my X did not.... and he doesn't think that he has an alcohol or drug problem either.. gee wonder why things are the way they are??
