I loved that song. Don't know who sang it. Here's one for you, Prod. How about "Red Rubber Ball," my first 45. Remember who sang that?

Yes! Crimson and clover, over and over...
I still have my ankh ring my parents gave me when I was 13. I tried ironing my hair (it's seriously curly), but it would be curly at the roots and straight (and still frizzy) everywhere else.

I first captured Richard's eye while wearing a pheasant blouse. He still talks about it. Apparently they were good at showing off an ample chest. Chapped inner thighs from wearing mini skirts in the cold? How about chapped inner thighs because they were fat and rubbed together?

Garter belts were torture due to my fat thighs....

The mornin' sun is shinin' like a red rubber ball

and that would be Cyrcle (pronounced "Circle). Edison Lighthouse did "Rosemary." I can still remember that moment in time when I was listening to that song and enjoying it so much. I was at a junior-senior daytime party at Rosemary Patane's house. Of course, she loved the song and she was going steady (wearing the class ring) of a guy named Bob Bradycamp (serious on the last name). I can see it so vividly, sitting in her living room, relieved that I had survived high school and was a week from graduating.

Believe it or not, I started ironing my hair about three years ago. I got tired of the out-of-control curls. I needed perms to get the curls to go in the same direction. However, once the dye jobs started so I could cover all the grey, I had to give up the perms. No I iron once again.

Bell bottoms
Love beads
Woodstock
How do ya spell f***???
Annagoddadavia
Smoking a dube
Having a roach clip on my car visor
Wearing a size 7
Partying until 4 and going to work, then doing it again the next night
Stooping to pick stuff up because our skirts were so short we couldn't bend over!!

Bell bottoms? How about elephant bells? They flapped left then right then left when you walked. Woodstock I watched on TV while my parents made comments about "those hippies." Annagoddadavia (which I thought meant "In the garden of Eden") I remember well. Never smoked a dube, but the Doobie Brothers apparently did. Never saw a roach clip, but I remember freaking out when a guy I knew said he had a roach in his car. Thought he had an infestation in there (he still makes fun of me for that). NEVER wore a size 7 and never partied (I've always been a total square). But I do remember having to stoop to pick things up while wearing a mini.

Remember the micro-minis? They were so short, they came with matching panties. I remember my elementary school principal sending me home for wearing one of those.

i shook his hand. real good, i shook his hand. he sure looked bewildered.

he tried to pick me up at my apt., and i didn't want him in my personal space, so i met him at the restaurant. he didn't quite understand that either.

am i dead, done for, through with it all, or am i just getting comfortable in my own skin??

he initially asked me to go to a car show....and i declined....he said have you ever been to one.....i said...sure, i hated it then, and i'm sure i wouldn't like it any better now.

i would have never declined.......BRA..(before recovery attempt)....always just did whatever the guy wanted to do, and acted like i just loved, loved, loved it.

but, this guy.....it just ain't workin for me.

as a reminder, this is the guy i ran into while christmas shopping and we went for lunch then, and i had a good time. but i'm just not ready to spend time with him. he has called bout 6 times since then....just can't get there from here....ya know what i mean? and he's a really nice guy....

he would make the near perfect dating companion......

ok....here's what i'm worried about....gonna quit *****-footin around.....maybe i'm just too damn sick and weird for a normal guy?????

god, this scares me. i know, i know....what's normal???

well......stable, well-respected, raised his children and they all adore him, his mother lived with him and his family till she passed and he treated her like a queen, business and home owner, doesn't drink, do drugs, just your average good ole joe.

why can't i feel the sparks???????

doing your hair up in pin-curls? and later, orange juice cans?
dippity-do?
hair tape to tape your curls on your to your cheeks overnight?
chum-gum

You are all so bright and funny. LOL
I knew I'd never love again, so I just accepted that.

I love men, but love them like a son or brother. Get warm tender AA hugs, with no sparks. Love puppies and dogs.

Yup, that's me! (and God only knows where that answer popped up from! )
I remember the "Loves grows..." song, too but it escapes me now (and I'm not gonna cheat and do a search on it! haha) (High school Class of 1972! )

Okay - here's what my first thoughts were while reading your posts....

Perhaps you are ready for dating --- But --- not ready for a relationship?
Things are okay when they are on a casual basis (such as running into an old boyfriend while Christmas shopping) but not so casual when he leans in for a kiss.

???? Just my thoughts, for whatever they are worth.

Yes it does Jeri, it does. I feel guilty about it because he is a nice man. It's very frustrating. And it's a scary feeling to be with someone who is nice and not the "slippery" type.

Kelly are they 5 big dogs, little ones, or a mix of both? I think you're only crazy if they're 5 BIG dogs or 10 little ones (mother and puppies don't count! LOL)

Hey Jeri,

You're doing just fine None of us were born codie, it took a while for us to become that way and it will take a while to heal from it. The first two years after I left my ex I tried a little dating and messed up every last one of 'em. I see it as practice. Each time I did a little better, learned a little more. I'm doing much better now.

From what I remember of your posts, you were incredibly patient with your "A". Now you can use that gift of patience with _you_, and give yourself permision to heal in your own good time.

Mike
