Detox has begun...

For those of you who have followed my recent threads you'll know that a decision was made that my AH would start detox the day after Christmas. Well, it has started. We're following all the guidelines for an out-of-clininc/hospital detoxing. So far things are going smoothly. At least as smoothly as possible under the circumstances. He remains very determined to make it work this time. (This is the first time we've ever done REAL detox. Other times were just stopping because I wanted him to, 'I can quit whenever I want', etc. times. Does that make sense?) He is not making any promises, which I am happy about, but also frustrated about. Boy, and I talk about HIS contradictions! ;-) He says that he is going to do whatever he can do beat this problem, but he won't promise that it won't ever happen again. He understands that he has a mighty demon to slay and he's going to do his damndest to kill it.

At this point, I am grateful for this shred of hopefulness.

P.S. Christmas was fantastic! I don't think we've ever had a better one!

Be careful....depending on his intake, detox can be dangerous. Best wishes to you & him. Great that HE wants this.....

Well, if he promised anything he'd be a liar with unrealistic expectations. He can't promise. I too have serious concerns about detoxing outside a facility. What is involved in this type of detox?

Good luck to you and your family. I agree with MallowCup about detox outside of a facility.
