Can't Believe it

My AH says he would like a bottle of wine, if I don't mind, and says if I was sweet I would go get it for him.
My response is do what you want and then he decides he will go get it himself.
Don't understand, as he knows it irritates me when he drinks. He is unpredictable. Afraid to talk to him because of Verbal Abuse when he drinks.
Constantly on my guard. Otherwise, he is a nice person to be around when not drinking

What would have happened if you'd responded with "No, I don't feel like enabling you to do what bothers me"?

Or "I got news for you, I'm not sweet."

He is unpredictable. Afraid to talk to him because of Verbal Abuse when he drinks.
Constantly on my guard. Otherwise, he is a nice person to be around when not drinking.
Do you see anything contradictory in these two statements? Nice people don't rough others up.

well, excuse me, hell yah i mind. you know it and i know it. so why ask. oh they just slay me. xah would do the same thing...."if you don't mind, i'm going to fix a highball" and would say it like a question??????

My AH was very abusive when he drank, I thought it was because of the booze, I am learning that the booze just gives them license to say the nasty stuff they would generally not feel at liberty to say with out a little help. They've just kept a cork on it. Once my AH started loosening up there was just a steady stream of filth, that got progressively worse as time went along. He was really good at keeping it under lock and key most of the time, but now I see how much hate and resentment was building underneath the surface, just waiting to explode. Don't underestimate verbal abuse, there's alot more going on then meets the eye.
