he's finally done it!!

I've got good news for my friends in these message boards.
My A is going into a treatment center this week!! He kind of had to be pushed, though. His boss at work said that if he didn't,
he'd lose his job. They are holding it for him, though.
You don't know how much this has thrilled me! God has answered yet another prayer!!
I'll keep you all posted!
Love and hugs,
Cindy

mine too!!!

Cindy,
That's great news.
My husband too is going for help tomorrow. He has an appointment to be evaluated to determine what type of help would be best. He basically hit 'rock bottom' last week. Stopped at an unfamiliar bar, drank, was beat up (punched/kicked while he was down) and somehow drove home. Took him to the local ER (fractured bone in face/eye swollen shut and stitched on forehead ... not to mention bruising on ribs). While he was there he talked to someone in detox and decided to stay, voluntarily at detox. He was discharged after 3 days. We're going to have his stitched removed today and tomorrow he begins counseling (prior to this incident he didn't think he had a problem).

I can't believe it's actually happening.

Does it seem real to you?

Stay strong and lets hope they can both do it. And, others will follow.

Cindy

I used to believe the adage that they will only get clean when they do it for themselves, and not for anyone else.

Well, I have met many recoverying alcoholics and addicts, who found recovery because the courts sent them, their bosses gave them an ultimatum, or other "outside" reasons. And once they got there, they were as likely to succeed as the ones who went on their own.

One fellow I know, found AA in jail, and only went because of the free coffee, doughnuts and cigarettes. He has been clean 10 years, because he also found a great sponsor and a wonderful fellowship.

My prayers go out for him and for you, and that he will get the tools he needs to continue his sobriety after the program has been completed.

Dear Cindy,
keep working your program, miracles do happen, every day. I am thrilled for you and for your husband.
