Almost fooled, grateful

We were almost fooled by A daughter in rehab. She has been negotiating/earning points for a weekend pass, which was granted for upcoming wkend. Started bullying me for rides to and from, money for train, etc. I put my foot down - no train money, and I wasn't ready for her to come home. Meanwhile, she recieved some money as a gift from another family member, allowing her to buy her own ticket, so the trip was starting to be back on the table, demanded. I contacted her counselors at rehab, voiced my concerns about her bullying to come home and about how it didn't "FEEL RIGHT" to me, told them I AM NOT READY. Through those conversations, we learned that she was lying to all of us about what her plan was for the weekend - where she was going, who she was planning on seeing, etc. Telling me one thing, them another. It was manipulation, the disease talking.

Opened up the door for considering halfway houses after her stay at rehab.

So grateful I trusted my HEAD and GUT on this one. I knew it wasn't right. Also grateful that this happened while she and I are still in a safe place.

K

Wow! You are really following the co-dependant no more handbook!
I really wish that my mom and I had been this tough years ago! And known about the books & Al-anon, not been in such stupid denial about my Abrother's problems. Your tough and no nonsense apporach is the best hope all of you have for recovery and a reasonably happy life!
This complete stranger is proud of you, if that makes sense.
