Update of sorts

Maybe I shouldn't be doing it, but I am.
I have been watching my husband's checking account since I moved out. I guess in a way, that would mean that I am still concerning myself with him and his actions, but in a way, it is helpful to me.

Here's what I found...

- More than one dinner at a nice restaurant, with the bill at a point it was clearly for two (can't assume anything beyond that)

- Three charges at the local zoo (don't even have a clue on that one!!!)

- One charge for a restaurant/bar, but when we'd go, it was never for the restaurant part....

- A charge for $79.50 for a bar in the town I used to live in with him

Yes, maybe I shouldn't be looking, but after I saw the bar charge, I confirmed to myself yet again that I'm doing the right thing. The whole restaurant thing is weird...makes me wonder who he's taking out, but I can't assume anything really. All in all though, it's pretty indicative of his state.

Oh well. I knew it would happen. I'm a little sad for him, but it is what it is.

And hey, I'm doing really good.
I painted a little basket for my bathroom...something AH would have told me I shouldn't do because every crafty thing I try "turns out terrible." It looks OK too! Not perfect, but OK!! Oh, and my bathroom...super cute and totally me!!! I found these neat boxes for cheap (total $13) and turned them into wall art. Cheapest artwork I've ever bought!!
Then I sat down and paid all my first round of bills. I even surprised myself. See, I am responsible after all!

Your too cute.... of course your responsible.

A warning to you though .... I did that as well, checking his account. It REALLY kept me stuck and during my lows I would obsess about it... during my highs I would have horrible guilt about it ....

Let that one go hon, in the long run its REALLY distructive.

Well, I agree with Cynay about the account viewing, but if you got the confirmation you needed, then you got it.

Now, as for your marvelous new place..that just rocks!

something AH would have told me I shouldn't do because every crafty thing I try "turns out terrible."

I NEVER doubted you could do it..

Amazing how we don't view ourselves the same way.

I love decorating! I've got a bathroom that is periwinkle blue and an office that is a deep dark red..

I love buying those decorating magazine at Home Depot or Lowes' to get ideas as well..

Trips to TJ Maxx and Norstrom Rack to buy cool decorating type things are great..

Have fun!

Sounds great, TG! I love crafty stuff, too. What, now I'm finding out all AHs hate crafts?

I did the checking thing for a little while, then just didn't care anymore. Sounds like you're doing fine.

How about a picture of your bathroom and the cute boxes you hung on the wall? You know you can store hand towels or wash cloths in them or perhaps some pretty bottles of bath salts.

I think now that you've started your new life, that it's time to stop snooping around to see what your ex is up to. Don't ya think?

That's great TG. I know its very hard to not be curioius about what he is doing. But hopefully you can take what you've learned and move on from there. Enjoy your place and especially your bathroom. It can be a great place for relaxing and solitude.

Enjoy your life sweetie!

TexasGirl-

I am so happy that you are doing great.

I cannot wait to get my new place. I want to start my own little collection of something. My aunt has a collectin of Roosters, my sister in law collects tea pots. I want to do something like that. I can't wait. The kids and I have been staying with my parents and they are great, but I am excited about starting over on my own - and very nervous too.

Texasgirl,

What a pleasure it was to read this post from you. I am truly so happy for you.

As far as the 'checking on things' goes, as you involve yourself more and more in your own life, I'm sure you'll be tempted less and less to involve yourself in 'his' stuff. Progress...you're making wonderful progress!

I hope you are as proud of yourself as I am of you!

We wouldn't peek at that stuff if we didn't have access to it. It's really a full report without the hassles. We are human. I also think it is outsmarting someone who has taken such pride in outsmarting us. It's not that we are nosey, we are empowered by knowing. As far as the redecorating goes, think pink!
