Iris I saw the Goo Goo Dolls last night at Nissan Pavilion. Great show by the way. I have never bought any of their CDs or knew much about them, just familiar with the songs that get all the radio play. These songs written by Johnny Rzeznik have always had an emotional impact on me I and I couldn't put my finger on why. I just googled up on him this morning and his Father died of alcoholism when he was young. His Mother died when he was young as well. He's struggled with addition himself and suffered a great love loss he still talks about, even last night he mentioned his divorce. Some of the most creative people have seen hard lives. This song touches me very deeply. Iris by Goo Goo Dolls words and music by Johnny Rzeznik And I'd give up forever to touch you 'Cause I know that you feel me somehow You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be And I don't want to go home right now And all I can taste is this moment And all I can breathe is your life 'Cause sooner or later it's over I just don't want to miss you tonight And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming Or the moment of truth in your lies When everything feels like the movies Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am I just want you to know who I am I just want you to know who I am I just want you to know who I am This was just like the live show last night, but it was'nt raining ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnNbz...elated&search= |
Johnny Rzeznik has always had a "pull" on me.....haha. (My daughter and I are starting to laugh about our "alcoholic/etc radar" and how we need to be "on guard" when we feel it.) I love their songs and his voice in particular. Thanks for sharing this. p.s. Glad you enjoyed the show! |
And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am I have loved this song ever since I first heard it. I always felt like it was one of my many "theme songs" in life. |
"Iris" always makes me cry............ (one of my "codie anthems", I fear). A very beautiful song. |
Saw them in Chicago recently...awesome show |
And might I add proudly, the GOO GOO DOLLS are from Buffalo, NY where I was born and raised. I actually got to see them a couple of times before they went off and became famous. Jazz, I did know of his family history...very painful to say the least, but look where he is now. |
Isn't that the song from the City of Angels soundtrack? It's a keeper! |
