Sad afternoon for me
I just got back from the animal hospital, I had to put my cat
(Whiskers) to sleep. He stopped eating about 3 weeks ago,
continues to vomit daily. Today he couldn't greet me when I
called his name he was too weak to walk. My son Kevin
(my compassionate son) went with me. It was incredibly hard
for us. Kevin was 18 months old when we got him.
Whiskers was 14 years old.

It just sucks ..... the whole ordeal just sucks! I'm sorry Patty, but you did the best thing for Whiskers .... he had no quality of life if he couldn't eat and greet you when you came home! Kudos to Kevin ..... what a wonderful compassionate kid you have there!
Wow Patty, those little critters become so special. I've had to spare quite a few from the pain of dragging out their poor health. That must have taken a lot of courage. Have some

I'm sorry, I've been there too. My bigboy was 10, sudden onset diabetes, I tried for a year to get his insulin regulated with shots twice a day. He was just too sick.
My heart goes out to you. It took me 2 years but I had to get another big boy. I still miss him.

We had to do the same last year. I have a picture that shows on my screen saver and with just the picture it gives me happy memories.
Remember the joy that she gave and your pain will lessen.

Patty -
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

patty - i know this is a terribly hard thing - i've had to put 2 of my cats down in the past 3 years and the last one i had to do by myself.
cry tears of grief and be at peace knowing that whiskers wouldn't want to live with no quality of life.

you'll see her over the rainbow bridge - she'll be waiting!
