What does it mean by enter chat room (float)? I tried that the other day and I thought I would be "floating" in the chat room in order to see what goes on there. I didn't want to chat I just wanted to see what it was about. I've been here for 3 months and the other day was the first time the chat actually worked. Is there a way to observe without actually having to log into the chat?

The "float" option opens the chatroom in a new, smaller window. Otherwise the chat opens in the browser window your currently using.

The only way to enter the chatroom is by logging in, and you'll be visible to all other users. You can chose not to participate and just watch what's going on, though I'd definitely encourage you to join the conversation if you feel like it

Hope this helps.

Hi Lorilou
you just posted something

Did you have a forum in mind?
Newcomers Forum is a good place to introduce yourself on the boards

The Alcoholism and Addictions Help Forums- by SoberRecovery.com

By hitting the big blue new thread button (top left hand side of page) you'll see if you follow that link you can start your own thread

to get into chat - assuming you're not having problems - follow the big blue toolbar that runs across the top of every page - 'chat room' is on the right hand side...clock the downward arrow and click enter chat room on the drop down menu that appears.

Welcome to SR

It is tough to be old and not understanding new systems and new terms like "thread" However learned to type at 50 so should be able to find a way to use this at 75. Would like very much to be of assistance to any that need it after all got sober at 46.

setting the correct timezone

if you need to, you can set your own timezone in 'user cp' (at the top left hand corner of the big blue toolbar that runs across the top of every page)

click 'user cp'...go into 'edit options' in the drop down menu and scroll down to the time and date section

Hi BWMM

I suggest you start a thread in Newcomers forum:

click this link
Newcomers to Recovery - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

you should see a big New Thread button

on my PC it's at the left hand top corner but it depends on what device you're using.

If you click that button you can start writing your post

Chat is down at the moment, FixItDad.

When it's back up, if you still have difficulty, please try IE or Palemoon.

Logging in and getting logged out multiple times

Hi

This is getting very frustrating. Having to log in multiple times in an hour. This has been going on for a while for me.

I am using my laptop (not my phone).

Help please!
